A Celebration of Joy, Intentional Living & the Beauty of Everyday Moments

heiter is more than a magazine—it’s a thoughtfully curated space for those who find joy in the simple, the meaningful, and the beautifully understated. Rooted in the belief that true happiness comes from slowing down and embracing the art of everyday life, heiter brings together stories, reflections, and inspirations that encourage a more intentional way of living.

Through our print issues, The Heiter Edit newsletter, and an evolving digital presence, we explore themes of home, creativity, and personal rituals—offering a quiet escape from the rush of life. We also celebrate intentional fashion choices, embracing style that is timeless, thoughtful, and aligned with the way we truly want to live.

How heiter started

In late 2015, founder & editor-in-chief Katharina Geissler-Evans found herself facing intense physical and mental exhaustion. The toll on her health forced her to step away from both her final university project and her job for several weeks. During that time, she was met with pressure from all sides—her university course leader suggested she might fail, and her employer warned that her pay could be stopped unless she recovered quickly. It felt like her world was crumbling.

One night, in the midst of it all, Katharina had a realization: the only person who could help her move forward was herself. She needed to shift her perspective and, most importantly, treat herself with kindness. The next day, she took herself out for coffee. The day after, she bought herself flowers. The following day, she went for a long walk by the river. In small but meaningful ways, she began creating moments that brought her joy—heiter moments, as she started calling them. Bit by bit, she felt lighter, more grounded. Her health improved, she returned to work, and she completed her university project. She was amazed at how something as simple as focusing on small moments of joy could have such a profound impact. She knew she wanted to share this approach with others—and so, the idea for heiter was born.

Katharina had always dreamed of launching heiter as a print magazine. In May 2016, she published a pilot version, but soon realized that balancing a full-time job at one of the world’s leading luxury fashion retailers with running a print publication was unsustainable at that time. Instead, she turned to digital platforms, sharing her content online. Before long, a loyal community of like-minded creatives, small businesses, and independent brand owners began to form around heiter. Inspired by this growing community, she hosted her first online and in-person events—laying the groundwork for what would later become The Heiter Society, a membership designed to foster heiter moments through creative and mindful workshops, networking sessions, and more.

Over the years, Katharina expanded heiter’s reach through blogging, e-zines, e-books, and a regular newsletter. But the dream of returning to print never faded. In 2022—six years after the initial idea—she finally brought heiter back to life in print. Following a successful crowdfunding campaign and with the support of brilliant contributors, she introduced New Beginnings—Heiter Issue 1 to the world. The second issue, Homecoming, was released in summer 2024.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Katharina finds joy in fashion and home styling, photography, visiting museums and flea markets, listening to audiobooks, spending time with family, and experimenting with new recipes. She has a fondness for unique clothing pieces, skincare products, hot drinks, scented candles, horoscopes, and Netflix documentaries. She seeks to reconnect with nature, explore new places, and discover #heitermoments in daily life.
